Workplace Wellness Program

As we head into the festive season, it’s really important to take that break and have a well earned rest.   Working remotely has sometimes made that difficult to do, particularly if you are working at home in the same space.  Think of ways of how to deliberately switch off, move away from your desk, put a towel over your work area, particularly if it’s in your bedroom.

Sometimes people may feel they cannot take a real break unless it’s travelling somewhere and therefore don’t actually take their leave.

However studies have shown if we don’t take breaks regularly we can risk burnout.  Our bodies and mind are not designed to keep going at it!  They need rest and rejuvenation.  Public holidays are a great reminder for us to slowly unwind.

So schedule your holiday leave and recreate your own staycation locally.

This could look like going on walks in your area that you’ve never been before.  Checking out local cafes in another suburb even of you’ve been before.  This time don’t rush and be more mindful.  Practice breathing slowly, being still, noticing how you feel.

If you find yourself waking up early as you would for work – that’s ok.  Maybe read a book or listen quietly to something you enjoy!  You don’t always have to force yourself to go back to sleep unless you really want to.

Jump out of bed and do something for yourself, whether it’s having a really long leisurely breakfast, or even trying to tidy up (yes I said it)  Clearing up does have therapeutic benefits….

So this Christmas be safe and well enjoy the festive season and spend it well!

On behalf of all us here at Partnership for Growth we wish you all a wonderful festive season and hope to see you in the new year!
